Graphic Designer & Marketing Coordinator

Job description

An established NGO seeks a Marketing Coordinator (part marketing and part graphic design) to become an integral part of their marketing and fundraising unit, working with the team in the execution of marketing, fundraising and event initiatives. This role is based 100% in-office.

Key responsiblities (including but not limited to):

Graphic Design

• Develop graphics for marketing, social media, signage, invitations, flyers and any other project as and when required.
• Uphold brand consistency across all organisational activities and materials.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, printers and signwriters.
• Maintain content on CMS (Wordpress) website.

Marketing

• Executing marketing activities across all channels.
• Planning and implementation of content across social media channels, monitoring and reporting on performance and engagement. Monitor and respond to comments and user engagement.
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce copy and visual materials for marketing activities and events.
• Create and manage HTML email newsletters and printed newsletters.
• Responsible for keeping database up to date.
• Upkeep and organising of photo archives/communications library.
• Ad hoc support to other internal divisions and events.

Events

Assist team with:

• Support with projects, fundraising initiatives, brand activations and events.
• Securing sponsorships, donations, and thank you letters.
• Brand activations.

Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Skills required:

• Strong eye for design and ability to create visually appealing content.
• Assertive personality, people’s person with ability to cold call.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
• Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
• Time management: Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A sense of urgency and a passion for your work.
• Willingness to work out of office hours from time to time.

Minimum requirements:

• Matric is essential. Relevant tertiary qualification in design or marketing.
• Portfolio showcasing design skills and creative projects.
• Proven 3+ year’s relevant working experience in design and content creation.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design software.
• Hands on experience with social media and relevant management tools.
• Ability to prepare files accurately for print, digital and social media.
• Proficient in mailchimp or other mass-emailing platforms.
• Excellent command of English and Afrikaans
• Passionate about content and storytelling.
• Ability to interact with adult persons with special needs.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Police clearance.
