Senior Traffic Manager – Job specification

Job purpose

The Senior Traffic Manager acts as the gatekeeper for all creative and digital outputs within the agency and plays one of the most critical operational roles behind the scenes. The role ensures workflow processes move efficiently with agility and best practice in mind. The senior traffic manager ensures marketing collateral and project work flows effectively from client services to creative, strategy, content, and production teams while keeping stakeholders informed and projects on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule creative, content, strategy, and digital teams to ensure resources remain on deadline.
• Enforce internal traffic processes from briefing through planning and deadlines.
• Maintain oversight of all projects and coordinate smooth handovers between resources.
• Interact with staff across the agency to ensure all parties remain informed on project status.
• Review briefs to ensure clarity and guide client service managers where necessary.
• Troubleshoot projects at risk and identify red flags early.
• Update resource schedules daily to ensure accurate project allocation.
• Manage schedules in relation to staff leave and availability.
• Liaise with heads of department to allocate the correct skills and timing to projects.
• Monitor timelines and deadlines to ensure work remains on track.
• Drive the effective use of the chase traffic management platform.
• Investigate and implement system updates where required.
• Manage the internal coordination of new business and pitch processes.
• Proactively chase feedback from teams and escalate concerns where necessary.
• Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and resource optimisation.
• Train and guide the junior traffic manager.
• Provide administrative support for new business where required.
• Complete any other reasonable tasks as directed by management.

Ideal background/education

• A diploma or qualification in marketing, digital marketing, or project management would be an advantage, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of the chase traffic management system is required.

Experience

• Minimum +3 years’ experience in a traffic management, production coordination, or similar agency role.

Languages

• Business-level English.
