Role overview:Feenix is seeking a detail-oriented and curious Data Analyst Intern to support the organisation’s growing data, reporting, and data quality needs. This role will assist the data analyst, BI function, and systems and operations team with maintaining accurate data across Feenix’s systems, preparing data for reporting, supporting internal and external reporting requirements, and helping teams access clean and useful information. The role includes some CRM/database administration, including keeping constituent records accurate and up to date. However, the primary emphasis of this internship is broader than CRM administration. The intern will support data clean-up, reporting preparation, quality control, spreadsheet-based analysis, and the development of reliable data processes across Feenix’s platforms. The successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail, strong computer literacy, a willingness to learn, and an interest in how data can support better decision-making in a social impact organisation.
Key responsibilities:Data quality and data clean-up- Assist with cleaning, checking, and maintaining accurate data across Feenix’s systems, spreadsheets, CRM, and reporting tools.
- Identify and correct missing, duplicated, inconsistent, or incorrectly captured data.
- Support historical and current data clean-up projects and help document recurring data quality issues.
CRM and database administration- Keep CRM and database records accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Capture, update, merge, and correct constituent records where required.
- Help ensure CRM data remains aligned with reporting, reconciliation, platform, and programme records.
- Prepare and check data inputs for internal, funder, programme, M and E, board, and operational reports.
- Support the Data Analyst and BI function with basic analysis, spreadsheet preparation, summaries, trackers, and reporting datasets.
- Assist with responding to internal data requests and preparing information in a clear, useful format.
Dashboard and BI support- Assist with preparing clean datasets for dashboards and self-service reporting tools.
- Support the testing, maintenance, and documentation of reports, trackers, and dashboards.
- Help teams access and use shared reporting tools accurately.
- Programme and disbursement data support
- Assist with checking, organising, and reconciling student, funder, programme, and disbursement-related data.
- Support data preparation during high-volume reporting, disbursement, or programme delivery periods.
Process and team support- Maintain clear records of completed tasks, unresolved data issues, and required follow-ups.
- Follow agreed data handling, privacy, and quality control processes.
- Participate in team check-ins and support ad hoc data-related tasks as required.
Qualifications and experience:- Matric, preferably with strong results in English, mathematics, mathematical literacy, accounting, computer applications technology, information technology, or a related subject.
- First-time jobseeker and currently unemployed, where required by the internship programme criteria.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Strong Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel skills, or a clear ability and willingness to develop them quickly.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to quality and detail.
- Self-motivated and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, records, and structured information.
- Needs to align with Feenix’s mission and values.
Working envronment:● In-office, full-time
● Monday to Friday, 08h00am to 17h00pm
