Junior Social Media & Content Assistant

The Grow Collective, a growing digital agency working across multiple retail, lifestyle and e-commerce brands, is looking for a driven Junior Social Media & Content Assistant to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This role is ideal for someone who has completed an internship, is ready to step into an agency environment, and wants hands-on experience across social media, community management, UGC, influencers, and content production.

Role and responsibilities

Social media support

• Assist with scheduling content across Meta, TikTok, and other channels
• Prepare captions, tags and post copy as briefed
• Update content calendars and assist with weekly/monthly planning
• Support reporting with basic insights and data gathering

Community management

• Monitor all client platforms daily
• Respond to comments, inbox queries and engagements
• Maintain page hygiene (spam removal, escalations, sentiment monitoring)
• Follow brand guidelines in tone and response management

UGC and influencer coordination

• Source UGC creators and influencer profiles
• Assist with outreach, communication and tracking of deliverables
• Manage incoming UGC assets and approvals
• Maintain talent databases and performance notes

Content production assistance

• Assist with TikTok and Instagram Reel recording
• Support content shoots (styling, shot lists, BTS, setup)
• Basic editing of short-form content

Content and email support

• Draft basic SEO-aligned blog content
• Assist with email scheduling and list updates
• Prepare assets for email layouts or content blocks

General admin

• Maintain organised digital folders and content libraries
• Assist with ad-hoc tasks across the social and content team
• Support internal project coordination where needed

Requirements

• 0–1 year experience (internship experience essential)
• Completed or ongoing studies in digital marketing, marketing, communications or similar
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends
• Basic experience with Canva (Adobe suite is a bonus)
• Comfort filming and assisting on TikTok/Reels
• Good writing skills and attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills
• Based in Cape Town (hybrid work model)

Advantageous skills

• Experience with Meta Business Suite
• Basic SEO knowledge
• Email marketing experience (Mailchimp or similar)
• Photography/videography exposure
