Job description

A private household is seeking a polished, experienced, and highly organized Household Manager / Butler to oversee the daily operations of a sophisticated residence. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, a service‑orientated mindset, and the ability to manage staff and household functions with precision and professionalism.

This role is well‑suited to a candidate who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys both supervisory and hands-on responsibilities, and takes pride in delivering consistently high service standards.

Key responsibilities

Household and staff management
  • Full oversight of daily household operations
  • Supervision of housekeeping and gardening staff
  • Hands-on involvement in maintenance tasks where necessary, in coordination with the Maintenance Team
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation
  • Managing household schedules, task lists, and service workflows
  • Training and mentoring household staff
Personal assistant duties
  • Managing diaries, appointments, and personal tasks
  • Running errands, including shopping and collections
  • Coordinating and supervising events
  • Providing efficient, proactive lifestyle support
Service and hospitality
  • Providing formal or informal service as required (Food & Beverage)
  • Basic cooking skills welcome; cooking is beneficial but not essential
  • Ensuring guest areas and entertainment spaces are impeccably prepared
  • Care and cleaning of silver, glassware, and fine artefacts
Household operations
  • Laundry care and wardrobe management (essential)
  • Pet care (cats)
  • Overseeing household maintenance schedules and contractors
  • Basic technical or electronic knowledge beneficial but not required
  • No responsibility for household accounts or budgeting


Requirements

Skills required
  • Proven household management experience within a private residence or luxury environment
  • Excellent communication skills – fluent, professional English (spoken and written)
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Personal assistant skills, including diary management, errands, and coordination
  • Ability to oversee housekeeping and gardening teams, with hands‑on involvement when required
  • Experience with household maintenance scheduling and contractor supervision
  • Food and Beverage service skills and formal/informal service knowledge
  • Basic cooking skills (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Professional, corporate personal presentation and discretion
  • Ability to run errands, drive, and manage logistics independently
  • Comfortable coordinating events and household functions
  • Pet care experience (cats)
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
