Job description

Key roles and responsibilities:
  • Lecture and assess contact learning students in the Higher Certificate – Preschool Education and in the Bachelor of Education - Foundation Phase Programmes in the following modules:
o   Creative Arts 1

o   Creative Arts 2

o   Creative Arts 3

o   Teaching Creative Arts

o   Arts Education 1: Visual

o   Arts Education 2: Music and Movement

o   Introduction to Research
  • Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
  • Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
  • Provide academic support to students.
  • Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
  • Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
  • Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
  • Contribute to programme development, scholarship, and teaching excellence
  • Engage in professional development, community engagement, and institutional support
  • Provide Distance Learning tutoring support to students enrolled in Creative Arts modules
  • Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.


Qualification and Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum Honours in English and Bachelor of Education or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Creative Arts (Visual Arts and Music and Movement).
  • At least 3 years of teaching and/or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of subject matter.
  • Experience in curriculum and materials development.
  • Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Sound teaching and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to cope with change.
  • Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
