Job description

Business Analyst, AI & Automation

Location: George, Western Cape, South Africa | Work model: Onsite | Team: AI and Automation

About us: As part of Badger’s digital transformation, ARC (AI Research and Consulting) is embedding AI, data, and automation as core growth levers across the Group. The tech research office leads this shift with a focused roadmap aligned to Badger’s vision. Our approach is practical and ROI-driven, deeply integrated with business operations, allowing us to scale intelligently and deliver Soft Landings for our customers.

About the role: Help deliver Soft Landings for our customers by turning complex operations into clear, buildable requirements. You’ll create crisp Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) that enable our AI/ML Engineers to ship reliable AI agents and automations across our business units.

   What you’ll do
  • Own the PRD lifecycle for AI/automation products from discovery to sign-off.
  • Run discovery with business units to capture processes, policies, data, and edge cases.
  • Map as-is/to-be workflows and define guardrails for safe AI use.
  • Prioritise opportunities using a transparent scoring model and maintain the roadmap.
  • Define success metrics; use BI to baseline, monitor, and report impact post-launch.
  • Partner with Engineering to deliver polished products.
  • Break down vague problems, validate assumptions, and surface edge cases or missing rules early.
  • Write in plain, structured language and present concise summaries to mixed technical and business audiences

    What you’ll bring
  • Proven PRD creation for AI-agent or automation initiatives.
  • Strong process mapping and requirements elicitation; BPMN proficiency.
  • Ability to size impact and prioritise (e.g., RICE/WSJF).
  • Data fluency with SQL or BI dashboards and clear written communication.
  • Basic to intermediate AI literacy, including LLM concepts and limitations.

    Nice to have
  • Short-term insurance experience.
  • Process mining exposure (Celonis or Power Automate Process Mining).
  • Power BI, Qlik, or similar BI Tools.
  • Project management fundamentals.
  • Exposure to expectation setting and constructive conflict handling.
All applicants will have to make themselves available for digital interviews.

The position will be filled in line with the Badger Holdings culture, values and Employment Equity policy and plan. Preference will be given to members of designated groups that are under-represented.
