Job description

Key roles and responsibilities:- Modules responsible for (roles include lecturing, module coordination, and work integrated learning/placements):
- Experiment learning 2 (EXL02)
- Work integrated learning (HWIL152)
- Experimental learning 3 (BEXL372)
- Guest speakers (3-5 hours/week)
- Identifying and contacting potential speakers.
- Coordinating schedules and logistics.
- Preparing briefing materials and session setup.
- Follow-up communications and feedback collection.
- Facilitating these online sessions with guest speakers.
- Placements (8-12 hours/week)
- Sourcing and vetting placement opportunities.
- Matching students to appropriate placements.
- Initial placement setup and orientation coordination.
- Ongoing liaison with placement supervisors.
- Addressing placement issues and student concerns.
- Document tracking (4-6 hours/week)
- Maintaining student progress databases.
- Monitoring submission deadlines.
- Chasing missing documentation.
- Updating records and generating reports.
- Quality assurance checks.
- Industry relationships (6-8 hours/week)
- Building and maintaining partner networks.
- Regular communication with industry contacts.
- Attending industry events and meetings.
- Developing new partnership agreements.
- Relationship maintenance activities.
- Assessment and portfolio marking (10-15 hours/week)
- Reviewing and grading student portfolios (providing detailed feedback).
- Moderation activities with other staff.
- Assessment planning and rubric development.
- Student consultation sessions.
- Module coordination (8-12 hours/week)
- Curriculum planning and development.
- Timetabling and resource allocation.
- Staff briefings and coordination meetings.
- Administrative tasks and reporting.
- Student support and guidance.
- Lecturing (8-12 hours/week)
- Facilitation of course content online as well as in-venue.
- Facilitating interactive classroom activities
- Student support and at-risk management
- Grading of assessments with relevant, quality feedback
- Conduct internal moderation for other modules (10 hours/semester)
- Moderation: Marketing 2 (BMRT261)
Qualifications and experience | minimum requirements:- Minimum BA honours in arts - related field (equivalent will be accepted).
- At least two years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution. Academic management experience would be a bonus.
- Strong background in education, professional skills development, and/or experiential learning as it relates to a credit-bearing higher education curriculum.
- Knowledge of the broader South African higher education environment and contexts.
- Experience in coordinating academic resources and processes towards achieving module outcomes.
- Knowledge and understanding of teaching practices and industry norms.
- Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments will also be advantageous.
- Strong network within the local fashion industry to assist with placements.
- Strong affinity towards guiding students to achieve relevant and meaningful workplace experience.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in managing WIL administration, network industry partners, student behaviour, and reporting deadlines.
- Thorough understanding of contemporary principles of work-integrated learning in the higher education context (i.e. internships, work experience, experiential learning).

- High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
- Experience with CANVAS LMS is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
