 STADIO Higher Education is inviting applications for the position of Lecturer: Business Law and Compliance

Key roles and responsibilities:
  • Lecture business law and compliance module and assess learning students. 
  • Use a learning management system independently and/or collaborate to develop and deliver modules.
  • Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials in partnership with the Module Coordinator (where appropriate).
  • Complete grading/marking for all the module assessments (formative and summative).
  • Take attendance and report to relevant line manager.
  • Provide academic support to students and use communication platforms to address all student concerns and queries.
  • Complete internal moderation reports (where applicable and appointed).
  • Attend compulsory faculty meetings.
  • Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager


Minimum requirements:
  • At least three years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution.
  • Experience in legal practice preferable.
  • Strong background in Mercantile Law or Private Law, preferably with industry experience in commercial law and debt recovery.
  • Knowledge of the legal frameworks of South African commercial law and National Credit Act of 2007, among other applicable law principles and prominent cases.
  • Knowledge and understanding of teaching practices and industry norms.
  • Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments will also be advantageous.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Master of Law (LLM) or equivalent qualification with relevant studies in Mercantile Law or Private Law

 Knowledge:
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms. Experience with CANVAS LMS preferred
  • Sound teaching and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.

 Skills:
  • Strong background in commercial law and debt recovery principles.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial law theory and application thereof in practice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to cope with change.
