Our client is seeking a professional and experienced IR consultant to join their reputable labour consulting firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice, support, and representation to clients in all matters related to labour law, employee relations, and compliance. The consultant will handle multiple client portfolios, assist with disciplinary processes, attend CCMA hearings, and ensure adherence to South African labour legislation. Fluent in Afrikaans is a requirement
Key responsibilities:- Provide expert advice on labour legislation, employee relations, and dispute resolution.
- Conduct disciplinary hearings, incapacity and poor performance enquiries.
- Draft charges, notices, warnings, and hearing outcomes.
- Represent clients at the CCMA/Bargaining Councils (Conciliation and Arbitration).
- Assist with strike management and employee engagement strategies.
- Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures in line with labour law.
- Guide employers on grievance procedures and internal conflict resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations and audits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labour legislation, case law, and HR best practices.
- Provide training and workshops to clients on HR and IR topics.
- Build and manage client relationships, ensuring service excellence and compliance.
Qualifications and skills:Qualifications:- National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology, HR Management, or a related field.
- LLB Degree (advantageous, especially for CCMA representation).
- CCMA accreditation or relevant labour law training (preferred).
Skills:- In-depth understanding of South African Labour Law and relevant Acts (e.g., LRA, BCEA, EEA).
- Strong knowledge of disciplinary processes and CCMA procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple clients effectively.
- Sound judgement and analytical thinking.
Experience:- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an IR or Labour Consulting role.
- Proven experience representing employers at CCMA/Bargaining Councils.
- Experience managing multiple client accounts or portfolios.
