The Senior HR Consultant provides strategic human capital leadership and advisory services to support organisational sustainability, governance, and performance.

The role is responsible for designing and strengthening HR systems, managing organisational people risk, and ensuring compliance with labour and payroll legislation. Working closely with the finance Manager, the incumbent provides oversight of payroll governance, workforce cost management, and HR-finance alignment.

The role acts as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce strategy, organisational effectiveness, and employee relations matters.

Key responsibilities
Strategic HR advisory and organisational development
  • Provide strategic HR advice to executive management and the Board.
  • Lead workforce planning and organisational design initiatives.
  • Develop HR strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Guide change management and restructuring initiatives.
  • Drive organisational culture and employee engagement interventions.
  • Provide leadership coaching and advisory support to managers.
Governance, risk and compliance
  • Ensure organisational compliance with labour legislation and best practice.
  • Lead HR governance frameworks and policy architecture.
  • Manage complex employee relations and dispute resolution matters.
  • Identify and mitigate workforce-related risks.
  • Support internal and external audits.
Payroll governance and workforce cost management
(In collaboration with finance manager)
  • Provide governance oversight of payroll operations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and financial controls.
  • Analyse workforce costs and advise leadership on financial implications.
  • Oversee payroll audits and reporting accuracy.
  • Strengthen HR–finance integration processes.
Talent and performance management
  • Design and oversee performance management frameworks.
  • Lead talent acquisition strategy and workforce capability planning.
  • Identify organisational skills gaps and development priorities.
  • Support succession planning initiatives.
HR analytics and reporting
  • Produce strategic HR metrics and workforce insights.
  • Present HR trends and risks to executive leadership.
  • Use data to inform decision-making and organisational planning.

Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, industrial psychology, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
  • 8–10 years progressive HR experience, including senior advisory exposure.
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll oversight and HR–finance collaboration.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations matters.
