Job descriptionThe Senior Producer is the senior production leader for the station’s flagship show(s), reporting to the Programming Manager. You will:
Show performance and output: • Serve as Lead Producer on the afternoon drive show, directing content and on air flow • Guide and coach presenters and producers through regular feedback and air checks • Facilitate information sharing and best practice alignment across all show producers • Monitor adherence to programming disciplines and management frameworks • Build and grow the target market audience through compelling show content • Assist in talent development (on air and production) • Coordinate the drive team’s roster and associated administrative tasks Audience Growth and Strategy Implementation: • Collaborate with the Programme Manager to refine show output using audience data and insights Translate station strategy into tactical action plans and show level roadmaps • Ensure consistent delivery of high quality, audience focused content • Maintain editorial integrity and relevance to the target demographics • Participate in annual strategy sessions and help develop the station’s multi platform strategy • Oversee content coordination between shows and guide programming teams day to day Digital Strategy Support: • Liaise with Digital and EWN teams to align on content priorities • Support rollout of the station’s digital initiatives and multiplatform campaigns • Partner with digital producers on content innovation and cross platform execution Business and Stakeholder Support: • Represent the station at internal and external forums as required • Attend client facing meetings and co create bespoke solutions with Sales & CS teams • Contribute to business planning and decision making forums led by the Programme Manager • Identify and escalate training needs for presenters, content and technical producers to HC Commercial success support: • Assist the Commercial Manager and Creative Solutions in developing client centric campaign concepts • Support flawless execution of commercial campaigns, ensuring delivery of agreed value • Represent the station at trade marketing roadshows and key client engagements to drive sponsorship growth Minimum required qualification: • Relevant tertiary qualification Minimum years of experience: • Tertiary qualification (Media studies/Journalism) • 6 -8 Years’ related experience Additional role requirements: • Willingness to travel as required • Solid radio background with first hand knowledge of broadcast workflows and the content commercial nexus • In depth programming experience and strong understanding of music radio formats and station positioning • Competence in managing end to end content production processes across Programming, News, and Digital teams • Proven track record in executing client campaigns and content sales drives within a programming framework • Ability to ensure seamless integration of on air and digital strategies, including strict call screening discipline • Skilled troubleshooter, able to diagnose and resolve technical or operational issues swiftly • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop producers, on air talent, and support staff • Proactive, assertive decision maker who inspires peak performance and fosters a collaborative, high energy culture • Strong team player mindset, adept at aligning cross functional partners (Sales, Marketing, Technical, Digital) • Creative flair with excellent verbal and written communication; able to craft compelling show concepts and persuasive campaign pitches • Skilled at translating strategic objectives into actionable content plans and rallying stakeholders around a unified vision • Deep understanding of the commercial environment, client needs, and revenue generation strategies • Experience balancing creative goals with commercial deliverables to drive both audience growth and sponsorship value • Highly proactive and adaptable in a fast paced, pressure filled broadcast environment • Resilient, with strong organizational and project management capabilities • Passionate about radio, music, and digital media, with a continuous improvement mindset Suitable candidates will be selected in accordance with Primedia Broadcasting’s Employment Equity Policy.
