Quality Assurer and Copywriter – Job Specification
Job Purpose:The Quality Assurer and Copywriter is responsible for ensuring linguistic excellence, brand consistency, and overall content quality across all agency outputs. This role combines high-level proofreading and quality control with brand-aligned copywriting across digital, print, and broadcast platforms. The incumbent will work closely with creative, strategy, and client service teams to ensure that all content is accurate, strategically aligned, on-brand, and delivered error-free in a deadline-driven environment. The role carries a primary focus on quality assurance while also providing supportive copywriting to the creative and conceptual teams.
Key Responsibilities :Quality Assurance and Proofreading (Primary Focus)- Proofread and quality-check all agency output from concept through to final production.
- Review print collateral, social media posts, scripts, reports, mailers, presentations, and all other creative content.
- Ensure all work aligns with client CI guidelines, tone of voice, and brand messaging.
- Fact-check and verify written material before publication or client delivery.
- Review social media content for accuracy, alignment with the brief, and appropriate platform placement.
- Identify and correct spelling, grammar, alphanumeric, formatting, and brand inconsistencies.
- Work collaboratively with creative teams to resolve errors efficiently.
- Maintain strict quality control standards in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Support quality assurance across multiple brands and client accounts simultaneously.
- Interpret copy briefs and develop brand-aligned content across various formats.
- Write creative copy, including campaign messaging and social media content.
- Develop short-form copy, including campaigns, social captions, slogans, and digital assets.
- Contribute to copy-led campaign concepts where required.
- Support conceptual teams with structured copy outputs.
- Conduct research to inform copy development and ensure factual accuracy.
- Assist with internal agency copy requirements when needed.
- Maintain an understanding of current digital and social media trends relevant to client industries.
- All deadlines are consistently met.
- No spelling, grammatical, or formatting errors are published.

- Client approval is achieved with minimal revisions required due to copy errors.

Copywriting Support (Secondary Focus)
- Interpret copy briefs and develop brand-aligned content across various formats.
- Write creative copy including campaign messaging and social media content.
- Develop short-form copy including campaigns, social captions, slogans, and digital assets.
- Contribute to copy-led campaign concepts where required.
- Support conceptual teams with structured copy outputs.
- Conduct research to inform copy development and ensure factual accuracy.
- Assist with internal agency copy requirements when needed.
- Maintain an understanding of current digital and social media trends relevant to client industries.

Ideal Background/EducationDegree or diploma in Copywriting, English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Experience- Minimum 3 years' experience in a copywriting and/or quality assurance role within an agency environment.
- Experience across both digital and print platforms.
- Exposure to corporate, brand, or campaign copywriting.
- Business-level English (first language preferred).
- Additional South African language advantageous.
- Exceptional English grammar and language proficiency.
- Strong proofreading and editing ability.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Understanding of client CI guidelines and brand tone.
- Ability to multitask across multiple brands.
- Strong research and fact-checking skills.
- Highly organised and deadline-driven.
- Collaborative and adaptable working style.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of agency environments.
