AFDA is inviting applications for the position of National Parity and Operations Planning Lead

As the National Parity and Operations Planning Lead, AFDA is looking for a committed and dedicated professional to manage Operational Infrastructure planning and National Parity across campuses, within existing financial and operational parameters. The applicant should have people and management skills and a thorough knowledge of construction and building infrastructure requirements and compliances.

The position requires someone who is organized, efficient and computer literate and interacts well with people. The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to embrace AFDA’s unique pedagogy, which is the basis of the interdisciplinary teaching at AFDA.

Roles and responsibilities
  • Conduct yearly infrastructure assessment on campus buildings for safety, parity and functionality of space.
  • Identify critical, high-impact facility needs and prioritise them according to national criteria like cost, scope, risk and strategic alignment.
  • Advise NOO on generating infrastructure maintenance schedules, with measurable benchmarks, as per OHS requirements
  • Develop detailed project scopes and timelines for national infrastructure, projects and maintenance initiatives, in collaboration with Deans, COO, NOO and BMOs
  • Assist NOO and BMO’s to monitor implementation of infrastructure projects across campuses to ensure deadlines, quality standards, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Produce progress reports, risk logs, and compliance updates for all campuses
  • Maintain and update the national database of approved national and local suppliers and contractors, ensuring due diligence. Assist BMO’s in sourcing and vetting regional suppliers for all campuses.
  • Track supplier delivery, adherence to agreements, workmanship quality, and cost efficiencies in collaboration with campus BMO’s.
  • Support cost-effective procurement, negotiate supplier rates, and promote parity in pricing and service across all campuses.
  • Establish and maintain national parity standards in facilities, safety, signage, technical venues, studios, and learning environments, in collaboration with Deans, NOO and COO
  • Ensure all infrastructure projects align with institutional policies, OHS requirements, municipal regulations, and national standards
  • Conduct quarterly cross-campus facility comparisons to address gaps and uphold consistent student and staff experiences
  • In collaboration with AFDA Marketing, ensure AFDA’s design identity, visual language, and brand presence are reflected consistently across all campuses.
  • Promote creative, sustainable, and student-centred use of spaces, including studios, labs, classrooms, and social areas
  • Provide input on layout concepts, refurbishments, signage, and interior solutions to support a cohesive national design culture.


Requirements

Selection criteria:
  • Relevant qualifications and work experience
  • Established work experience in management of staff
  • Industry and / or knowledge of the film/television and / or performance industries
  • Driver’s license and own transport essential
  • AFDA employs candidates in line with the Employment Equity Act and as such preference will be given to suitably qualified candidates from designated groups
