Job description

Contract Role | Cape Town | Mid-Level | Hybrid (In-Office + Remote)
(June/July – Sept/Oct 2025, with potential to extend)

Build a dream portfolio in a brand you’ll be proud of, from lo-fi styling to platform storytelling, in one of the most inspiring creative environments in South Africa.

We’re looking for a mid-level Social Media Coordinator to join the Poetry of Living team, a lifestyle brand dedicated to beautiful homeware, meaningful rituals, and slow-living inspiration.

This is an incredible opportunity to own the full social media process, from content planning and styling to lo-fi creation, editing, scheduling, posting, and reporting, while building a standout portfolio for a respected South African brand working at international standard.

The role is based in Cape Town and offers a hybrid structure, including in-office days at our beautiful HQ with views of Table Mountain and on-site shooting at our flagship Sea Point store. There’s flexibility to negotiate more remote work where needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead social media planning and execution across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, with full responsibility for both visual output and platform deployment. This is a fast-paced environment that rewards precision, visual flair, and adaptability.
  • Lead social media planning, in line with merchandising, trade, and visual themes

  • Execute lo-fi content shoots, especially in-store at our beautiful Sea Point flagship

  • Style and shoot lifestyle and homeware content in a brand-aligned way

  • Curate the visual flow of the content calendar, aligned to platform trends

  • Apply a strong grasp of aesthetic tone, platform behaviour, and composition

  • Write and schedule posts, manage engagement, and report on performance

  • Storytell regular events and in-store activations as part of brand flow

  • Maintain consistency with brand identity and tone across all touchpoints

  • Collaborate in weekly feedback loops with an expert, caring team

What You Bring
  • Minimum 2 years of content creation experience in fashion, homeware, or lifestyle retail

  • A strong visual sensibility, with proven styling experience. You know how to assemble and shoot content that’s polished, on-brand, and engaging

  • Experience creating and editing lo-fi content using tools like CapCut, Canva, Reels, and other mobile editing platforms

  • Familiarity with Meta Business Suite or other scheduling tools

  • Understanding of the fast pace of retail, with a calm, solutions-focused approach

  • An interest in brand voice and home + lifestyle storytelling

  • Ability to work independently but thrive within a tight-knit, feedback-driven team

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

Why This Role Matters
You’ll be working within a collaborative, creative team culture that prioritises quality, connection, and thoughtful storytelling. You’ll be embedded in the creative process, not just executing briefs and your work will be part of shaping a brand people genuinely love.

You’ll also be building an incredible portfolio of work that spans styling, visual direction, platform deployment, and strategic brand storytelling, while working in one of the most beautiful places in the world: the Cape Riviera strip between HQ in the City Bowl and the flagship Poetry store in Sea Point.
Contract Overview & Perks
  • Contract duration: June/July to Sept/Oct 2025, with possible renewal

  • Hybrid setup: mainly in-office with some remote balance

  • Remuneration: aligned with a mid-level role

  • An optional medical benefit is available (reduces take-home slightly if opted in)

Perks include:
  • Staff discounts across the Cape Union Mart Group (Poetry of Living, Poetry, Cape Union Mart, K-Way, Keedo)

  • Stylist perks - access to sample sales across the same brands

  • In-house barista coffee, great people, and creative collaboration

Requirements

  • Content calendar planning and daily platform execution and deployment

  • Fashion and lifestyle content styling and visual curation

  • Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok

  • Confident copywriting and on-brand captioning

  • Community building and audience engagement

  • Trend awareness and proactive ideation

  • Lo-fi production coordination and creative briefing

  • Data-driven performance analysis and reporting

  • Portfolio showcasing fashion/lifestyle storytelling and brand alignment

  • Calm, positive energy with collaborative, self-led workflow
